If you don't use your CD-ROM drive very much, your PC might be assigning memory for its cache. Here's how to reclaim that memory.
- Right click on My Computer
- Choose Properties
- Choose the Performance tab and click File System
- Select the CD-ROM tab
- Note how much memory you are assigning to the CD-ROM cache and reduce it to regain more memory.
Note: The minimum is 64KB (No read-ahead selected; slider on Small). The maximum is 1238KB (Quad-speed 4X or higher; the slider on Large).
To free up even more memory, I recommend a program called Memory Optimizer Pro.
