TORONTO, Canada - January 14, 2002 - Digital Journal, a leading Canadian lifestyle magazine devoted to the ongoing convergence of information technology, lifestyle and the arts, today announced the appointment of Andy Walker as Editor-at-Large. "I am honoured that Digital Journal has appointed me to this exciting position," said Walker. In the forthcoming spring issue of Digital Journal, to be published in March, Walker will cover a broad spectrum of issues including wireless technology, innovative gadgets and smart home technology. He will also profile of some of Canada's most remarkable technology visionararies. Walker has become one of Canada's most respected technology writers. His columns have been syndicated across Canadian newspapers. He has appeared as technology expert on dozens of television shows across Canada and he is read by millions on the Web. Walker started his remarkable journalist career in 1990 when he graduated from Ryerson Polytechnical University's journalism program. Early in his career he worked for many of Canada top media outlets including the Toronto Sun, CBC, CP Wire, the Vancouver Province and Southam Magazine Group. In 1995, he launched the first Canadian content on the Prodigy Service. He went on to work for Southam New Media where he engineered the interactive media components on the Web sites launched by Southam's newspapers. He was also a key player on the development team that launched Canada.com. In 1997 he joined Microsoft's MSN.ca and was trained at MSNBC. He went on to become a key player in establishing MSN's Canadian news content on the Web. This included producing a live Internet chat from the CTV National news studio on Election Night '97. In 1999, Walker, 34, launched Cyberwalker Media, a content agency that now syndicates his own work as well as writing by Cyberwalker Media's talented writers. It also published the tech help site Cyberwalker.com. Walker is a frequent contributor to CP24's HomePage, a technology TV show broadcast across Southern Ontario.
